For the past few years, one of the most common methods used to build a domain’s authority, to acquire quality inbound links and to establish one’s self as an expert in a given field was to approach respected websites in a given niche and offer to create guest content for them at no cost, in exchange for a return link or two. The value exchange here was clear. A site would receive fresh content from a contributor for free, and the contributor would hopefully receive an incremental boost in search relevance and targeted traffic.
In the post-ChatGPT era, however, it’s now faster and easier than ever for website publishers to create content if they’re looking for something new, and in many cases the quality of the output is reasonably strong (especially if the publisher takes time to edit the article to suit their publication’s voice before it goes live).
Given this, I would imagine that it’s now harder to convince established websites to accept guest article submissions. Is that the case, or are some of you continuing to experience success with this method of promotion?
Guest blogging is still alive and well in 2023! In fact, guest blogging has evolved as a content marketing technique and 53% of digital marketers believe it’s a great way to build a backlink profile. Plus, it offers a host of benefits to help you climb higher up the search engine rankings.
Thanks for the insight, Stellar Developers, and welcome to Geek/Talk. 🙂
I love that you included some meaningful stats in your response. It’s encouraging that this technique remains popular, even in the presence of generative AI technologies.
guest blogging can still be an effective strategy in 2023 for building backlinks, increasing brand exposure, and driving traffic to your website. However, it’s important to approach guest blogging with a focus on quality and relevance. Here are some tips to make the most of guest blogging in 2023:
Focus on Quality Content: Write high-quality, informative content that provides value to readers. Avoid overly promotional content and focus on providing valuable insights or solutions to common problems in your niche.
Target Relevant Websites: Look for websites that are relevant to your niche and have a good reputation. Guest blogging on reputable sites can help improve your credibility and attract a relevant audience to your website.
Follow Best Practices for SEO: Incorporate relevant keywords into your guest posts, but avoid keyword stuffing. Make sure your content is well-structured and easy to read, and include links to relevant resources both within your guest post and back to your own website.
Build Relationships: Guest blogging is not just about getting backlinks; it’s also an opportunity to build relationships with other bloggers and influencers in your niche. Engage with the audience and respond to comments on your guest posts to foster relationships and increase your visibility.
Monitor Your Results: Use analytics tools to track the performance of your guest posts, including traffic, engagement, and backlinks. This can help you identify which guest blogging opportunities are most effective and refine your strategy accordingly.
I would call it building up references, but yes it is still alive. I still do it myself.
